Assistant Examiner: Philosophy, International Baccalaureate, Wales, 2008 – Current

 

Founding Head of High School, The Westwood School, Dallas, Texas, USA, 2008 – Current

The Westwood is a private Montessori-IB international school of 270 students serving the greater Dallas area. Pre-K -12. Westwood was the first Montessori-IB school in the United States.

Development: Introduced and lead successful application and candidacy for DP in existing school serving grades K-8, establishing a new high school program serving both local and international students, but especially serving current Westwood middle school students. Established community outreach, funding, student services and counseling, university preparation and applications, and student growth. Enabled and supervised Adventure Leadership for Schools program including numerous hikes, climbing and scuba trainings and events. Established and maintained links to feeder schools and international exchange programs, including developing and arranging a student visa program. Headed the search for teachers and support staff and established the core teacher training in the high school.
Supervision: Answering directly to the Director of the Board (also Head of School), established and supervised development of curriculum and assessment supervising 10 teachers, 5 support administrators, and the DP coordinator. Worked closely with the MYP Coordinator (also Assistant Head of School) on planning and curriculum and with the CFO on planning and budgets. Supervised teacher training and evaluations, including taking on teacher internship from the University of North Texas. Established and supervised network, technology, website development and related policies in conjunction with schools technologies specialists.  Established and supervised Risk Management at all levels in the school, and developed the Standard Operating Procedures for all adventure events.

Teaching:  Established and taught Math (grades 9 and 10 2008-9),  TOK & Philosophy (2009-) courses, in addition to establishing special courses supporting the interaction between subjects in the school and the creativity, action and service components of the school mission.

        Diploma Program(me), Curriculum and Assessment Centre. The IBO offers a rigorous academic program to over 1600 schools worldwide.

        Responsibilities: Program curriculum and assessment in mathematics and science. Managed multiple teams in review, development and systematic study in international setting including online collaboration .  Coordinated use of technology in teaching and helped write support documents including regulations for technology use in examinations. Editor/author of numerous curriculum and assessment documents. Supervised grade award sessions and administered results for examinations  with 200 to 14000 candidates.

        Special projects: Contributed to evaluation of issue of Global Ethics related to IBO policies and programs.

Brookhaven is one of seven colleges in the Dallas County Community College system providing university preparatory and first two years university level programs, in addition to some three year terminal programs.
